A precursor to the start of Caribbean Sailing Week was a three-day Race Management Clinic, held on 15-17 October
The race management clinic was headed by World Sailing Race Officer Fabian Bach and was open to representatives of National Sailing Federations and regional regattas from across the Caribbean region. The sessions provided training as a first step towards National and International Race Officer qualification.
“My aim has been to try to pick them up on their knowledge and put them on a higher level of race management,” reports Fabian Bach, the World Sailing Coach who ran the clinic.
“The discussions and training went very well,” he says “and the Caribbean Sailing Association will now be able to continue this work which is a first step towards building an island-wide resource of trainers as well as knowledgeable race officials. The aim is to get them, in turn, to be able to expand their knowledge and practical race management competency to the benefit of sailing on their island and in their region.”
